The Haptoclone team of the University of Tokyo has used the ASKA3D-Plate in their challenge to develop a new contact method.

The ASKA3D-Plate displays a three-dimensional "clone" in a remote location that can, of course, not only be seen but also allows for two people in remote locations to touch each other with bare hands and see each other with the naked eye also.
For details, see their website or their YouTube video.
The name of ASKA3D-Plate is AI Plate in Japan.
